It recognizes the importance of respecting all individuals and is committed to achieving equity and eliminating discrimination. Society values factors such as gender identity, race, cultural background, physical ability, and scientific perspectives. It supports all members of its community and regularly reviews its policies to ensure fairness.
Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists: The Hispanic Organization of Toxicologists (HOT) was established in 2004 and later became a Special Interest Group within the Society of Toxicology in 2006. HOT was founded by Hispanic professionals who are experts in scientific areas associated with toxicology. The organization aims to provide a platform for Hispanic toxicologists in the United States and the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking scientific communities worldwide to interact with each other. It also seeks to create awareness and disseminate toxicological information and issues related to the Hispanic population. HOT has a particular focus on supporting the Society of Toxicology in its outreach efforts to promote global toxicology.
Women In Toxicology: The Women in Toxicology (WIT) was created to help women succeed through mentoring, leadership, visibility, and education. WIT has a history of developing impactful initiatives, such as encouraging the nomination of women for SOT-wide awards, promoting knowledge sharing, and fostering high membership engagement. It has sponsored sessions on toxicology topics and current social and environmental concerns.
