Dr. Lissette Delgado-Cruzata (she/ella)  is the lead of the VOICES project. She earned a B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the University Havana, Cuba, and a PhD from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, in New York. She is an Associate Professor of Molecular Biology at John Jay College in the City University of New York, and a Fulbright Scholar. Her research focuses on identifying epigenetic patterns specific to US Latinas and Latin-American women with breast cancer. She mentors many undergraduates in her research lab. She also has a deep commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion in the teaching of STEM disciplines. She is the PI of a NSF funded project that proposes to create classroom materials using a culturally affirming lens in science courses.

Dr Tashera Gale is the lead evaluator of the VOICES project. She is a Senior Director at Higher Ed Insight. She earned her PhD at Syracuse University on Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation. She is a passionate social science researcher who employs asset-based approaches and culturally responsive practices, appreciating and leveraging the capital that exists within diverse populations. Her research centers STEM academic and career pathways for groups disproportionately underrepresented across these disciplines. As a critical scholar, Dr. Gale identifies permeating systemic disparities hindering equitable outcomes for marginalized groups, and highlights techniques to counter their impacts. She advocates for equity and inclusion, both of which are central to her engagements in scholarship and service.


Joshua Moyse is the website manager and administrative assistant for the VOICES project. He is an undergraduate student at John Jay College of the City University of New York, majoring in International Criminal Justice and minoring in Global Asian Studies. He is an International Baccalaureate diploma program alumni and has an academic concentration on U.S.-China relations and international human rights. His research focuses on the historical context of the Sino-region and it’s implementation in modern day diplomacy, interregional conflict and cyber security. Joshua is deeply committed to repairing the distressing relationship between the United States and Greater China.


Rosalia Espinoza is a junior at John Jay College pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Toxicology. She has a deep passion for forensic and clinical toxicology. As a member of the VOICES team, she has taken on the responsibility of creating short biographies for faculty members and curating articles, videos, and websites for the toxicology tab, specifically focusing on Racial Equity, Pedagogy, Diversity, and Inclusion.
